Established
in 1956, The Hunter Valley Research Foundation mission is to be: "the
Centre of Excellence in community and regional research - helping people
make better decisions."
As Australia's longest
serving private not-for-profit regional research
organisation its progressive, independent approach
has made it a unique in regional Australia.
The
Foundation's core objectives are:
- To
assist all levels of government and statutory authorities
- To
assist the business community in developing, growing and monitoring
their markets
- To
assist community groups through the provision of information and research
skills which will help these groups achieve their goals
- To
develop and refine research methods and tools
Our work is primarily on two
fronts:
- A long standing
regional
research program which includes investment, economic indicators,
social and demographic analysis, technology and weather. Research
output is disseminated through publications, forums, presentations to various groups, a free
enquiries service and public library, the media and web site.
- Research consultancy services
including surveys, economic analysis, health data collection, facilitation
and multi-client surveys.
What
sets the Hunter Valley Research Foundation apart?
- Our
research professionals are drawn from diverse backgrounds
and form a multi-skilled research team.
-
Our trained interviewing teams are experienced in
various data collection techniques involving both business
and domestic respondents. With interviewer checks, including
a rigorous assessment program and regular training sessions
for all interviewers, we obtain data of very high quality
and consistency.
-
Computer-Aided Telephone Interviewing (CATI) programming is
developed in-house by highly experienced staff. It is
designed to suit each project and allows full computerisation of questionnaires, maximising flexibility
during interviewing, and providing an unlimited number of
questioning paths.
-
Our data collection methods form the basis of a
consistent, reliable and lateral approach to research and
are customised to suit the needs of each client. In
addition, we achieve consistently high survey response
rates.
-
Our response rates are the result of
paying close attention to survey methods, modifying survey
practice when required and adherence to a strict call back
system.
-
We are committed to providing a quality
product which is
supported by a post-project survey completed by clients.
Feedback is used to guide the ongoing fine-tuning of our
services and review of the research process and practices.
-
Our skilled facilitators are used extensively by business,
community and government sector clients. The techniques we
regularly use include: focus groups, meeting facilitation
and OptionFinder©.
