General Privacy Policy

The Hunter Valley Research Foundation acknowledges and respects the privacy of individuals and agrees to comply with the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 and to adhere to the Ten National Privacy Principles with regard to the collection, use, storage and disclosure of information and the security of data.

The personal information collected by the Foundation is for the purpose of: fulfilling data or publication requests; function registration; interest in particular products, services and events; providing Sponsor and patron benefits and assisting us to improve our service to the community.

The provision of information is voluntary, but if this information is not provided, the Foundation, in some cases, may be unable to process the request.

As part of its operations, from time to time the Foundation gathers information from businesses and individuals for anonymous survey data collection, either face-to-face, by mail, or by telephone.

All of the above information is stored on computer with due regard to its security and is only used for the purpose for which it was obtained. Personal information is collected by lawful and fair means and with the consent of the individual involved and the assurance that there will be no other unauthorised access or disclosure.

Reasonable steps are taken to ensure that the information is accurate, complete and up-to-date, and in the case of surveys, all identifiers are removed and the data collected is analysed as a group.

In accordance with the Privacy Act there may be access to, or alteration of, personal information by the person involved. The information collected will not be passed on to any other party without the prior consent of the individual.
